Abstract
The development of Buddhism in Indonesia known by their three major streams are Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. Over time, a term known as “Buddhayana” was coined which simply explained that Buddhism actually shows one truth, it’s just a different path. Buddhayana Buddhist Center Palembang is a center of worship for Buddhism (Buddhayana) as well as a religious tourism object for both Buddhist and non-Buddhist. Symbolic architecture as applied as the design theme of Buddhayana Buddhist Center Palembang with the aim that the building can be easily recognized for its function and become an icon. The metaphorical concept of the lotus flower is chosen and applied to the shape and appearance of the building combined with modern architectural style. Buddhayana Buddhist Center Palembang consists of 5 masses. Several functions are planned, including Dhammasala, Meditation Hall, Kuti Sangha, Clinic, Souvenir Shop, Vegetarian Restaurant,Gallery, Multipurpose Hall, Dining Room, Manager Office, Secretariat Office, Classroom, Guest House, Library, Employees Room, and Kitchen.
