Abstract

Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is one public health problem in the world. Chronic renal failure (CRF) is where there is a failure to maintain the metabolism of renal function and fluid and electrolyte balance with the progressive build up of residual metabolism in the blood. This purpose of study to determine the family support and mechanism coping with depression in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. This research is a quantitative research with survey method with cross sectional analytic. This study was included in the area of medical-surgical nursing (KMB). The sample in this study using a purposive sample of 49 respondents. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. The analysis results be obtained that has a good family support 27 (55.1%), adaptive coping mechanisms 31 (63.3%) and normal depression 46 (93.9%) , The result of Chi-square is no relationship between family support relationship with the level of depression with pvalue = 0,581, and There is no relationship with the level of depression coping mechanisms with p value = 1.000. Based on the results of this study concluded that there is no relationship of family support and coping mechanisms of the level of depression in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis in the Siti Khadijah Hospital Palembang in 2015.
