Abstract
Background: Breast Cancer is the condition of cells that have lost control and how to work normally, then occur growt cell abnormal and uncontrolled in breast tissue. In the world of breast cancer include the number 2 cause of death after cardiovascular disease. Estimated incidence in Breast cancer in Indonesia is equal to 40 per 100,000 women. Genesis This increased from 2002 with incidence of breast cancer 26 per 100,000 Women. Objective: To look is there Exposures Relationsip of mass media exposure in doing Breast Self Examination (BSE) at Student Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences Catholic Musi Caritas Palembang. Methods: Using design Cross Sectional. technique using stratified random sampling, with a total sample of 45 female students. Univariate and bivariate analysis using Chi Square test. Results: Of the study data showed respondents who are not exposed to the mass media, namely print media as much 36 (80.0%) and respondents exposed to the print media as much 9 (20.0%). On the media internet respondents not exposed to the media internet as much 30 (66.7%) and who are internet media as much 15 (33.3%). On BSE measures that do not do as much as 37 (82.2%) and who perform BSE as many as eight (17.8%). Results Chi Square test obtained p value= 0.039 it means there is a significant relationship between print media exposure to the action (BSE), while the internet media obtained p value= 0.699 means there is not significant relationship between internet media exposure to the action (BSE). Recommended to institution and health works to promote breast self-examination to prevent the occurrence of breast cancer early.
