Abstract

Background: Verbal abuse is an oral expression of harsh words of shouting, shouting, threatening, scaring, and insulting children. Verbal abuse by parents will result in a psychological disturbance in children that affects bad behavior in children, by imitating bad behavior obtained from parents or friends who say rude to him. Objective: To know the relationship of verbal violence of parents with behavior in grade 1 elementary school children at SDN 12 Talang Kelapa Palembang 2017. Method: This research is a type of correlation research, using analytical survey method with cross sectional design. Sampling technique using quota sampling, and the number of respondents in this study as many as 70 students / i. Results: The results of this study found 40 respondents (57.1%) had experienced moderate verbal violence and 30 respondents (42.9%) experienced mild verbal violence. Children who behave less well as many as 40 respondents (57.1%) and 30 respondents (42.9%) behave well. Spearman's rho test results obtained p-value value 0,044 <0,005, hence there is significant relation between verbal violence of parent with behavior at school grade 1SD SDN at SDN 12 Talang Kelapa Palembang. It is recommended for parents and school parties not to engage in violent behavior, especially verbal violence, because the less verbal violence the child will behave.
