Abstract
Background: The use of hormonal contraception is one of the family programs involved in controlling the number of children in the family. Therefore, to improve the quality and quantity of this method, family support is needed, especially from the husband. Objective: To determine the relationship between husband’s support and the choice of hormonal contraception at Ulu 1 Health Center of Palembang. Method: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The population was all mothers who used hormonal contraception at the study site. Samples were collected by purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 123 respondents. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test with α <0.05. Results: A total of 56 (45.5%) respondents received high support from the husband and 54 (43.9%) respondents chose injectable contraceptives. Based on statistical calculations, the p value was 0.020 <0.05, which means there was a relationship between husband's support and the choice of hormonal contraception. Suggestion: Respondents are expected to always actively look for information about contraception that will be used to professional health workers.
