Abstract

Background: Parents play an important role in shaping their children's behavior. Indirectly attitudes and behavior of parents who are permissive and authoritarian to children can result in children tend to behave aggressively. Aggressive behavior of adolescents tends to experience an increase marked by the involvement of adolescents in various forms of riots, fights, demonstrations and acts of violence. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting parents and aggressive behavior of adolescents of class VIII junior high school. Method: Quantitative cross sectional design study, fulfilling inclusion criteria for class VIII junior high school students, the sample amounted to 109 students, through total sampling technique, from February to June 2018. Data were analyzed by Kendall Tau statistical test. Results: The study found that the majority of respondents with authoritative parenting were 98 (89.9%) and the most aggressive aggressive behavior was 58 (53.2%). The Kendall Tau test results found that there was a relationship between parenting style and aggressive behavior of adolescents with p-value = 0.044 and r = -0.191 which meant the correlation coefficient was very low with a negative direction. Suggestion: in this study it is expected that parents will provide and apply consistent and firm parenting to reduce and overcome behavioral problems in children.
