Abstract

Today, rapid development of technology of information has caused changing in every aspect of human life included economical aspect. The changing on economical point of view about concept of space and time and the competition in globalization era, force the companies to increase the efficiency and the effectiveness, so they will able to survive. The company will be able to response the challenge by using electronic commerce which use technology of Internet. Online bookstore as a web-based system is one of the applications of electronic commerce. As a system, one of the elements that mostly needed for online bookstore is software. The objectives of this research are; first, to know how to construct an online book store system as the application of electronic commerce. Second, to understand how to construct software for the online bookstore based on the principles of software engineering. The method which is used to construct this online bookstore system is software engineering model called classic life cycle model or waterfall model. This system is implemented using Active Server Pages Technology, VB Script Programming and Microsoft Access as database processing of the system. The implementation of this system shows that; first model is a software engineering method, which is suitable with the development of online bookstore system. Second, Active Server Pages Technology, VB Script Programming and Microsoft Access are able to be used as tools to develop online bookstore system.
