Abstract

Sharenting on social media has become a common practice among mothers, yet it also raises the risk of Parental Burnout due to the pressure of maintaining an ideal-mother image. This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of Parental Burnout among mothers who actively practice Sharenting on social media. The study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Participants consisted of three mothers who actively practice Sharenting in Palembang City. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted in three sessions with each participant. The findings revealed five themes: pressure to meet the ideal-mother standard in Sharenting practices, dual roles and fatigue as working mothers, the mother-child relationship through Sharenting, the gap between parenting expectations and reality, and psychological well-being and maternal acceptance. All participants showed experiences related to Parental Burnout, although not at a severe level. Sharenting was found to hold a dual role, functioning both as a source of social pressure and as a means of maintaining emotional closeness with the child.
