Abstract

The use of paylater services has grown increasingly common among unemployed university students who still rely on allowances from their parents or scholarship funds. This condition has the potential to affect financial well-being if not accompanied by adequate self-regulation. This study aimed to examine the role of self-control and mindfulness on financial well-being among university students using paylater services. This study employed a quantitative approach with purposive sampling involving 77 active students who used paylater services. Data were collected using the financial well-being, self-control, and mindfulness scales, and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that self-control and mindfulness jointly contributed 58.6% to financial well-being. Partially, self-control contributed an effective contribution of 21.21%, while mindfulness contributed 37.32%, indicating that mindfulness had a greater contribution. These findings indicate that self-control and mindfulness play a role in financial well-being among university students using paylater services.
