Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) persist as critical global health indicators, necessitating robust interventions through comprehensive and sustainable midwifery services, notably Continuity of Care (CoC). This integrated approach is designed to enhance maternal and neonatal health outcomes while facilitating the early detection of complications. This case study aimed at providing comprehensive Midwifery CoC for Mrs. “A,” a 31-year-old (G2P1A0), spanning the antenatal, intranatal, new-born, postnatal, and neonatal periods at Midwife “L” Independent Practice Palembang. A case study design was employed using a midwifery management approach, incorporating both subjective and objective data assessments. Data were gathered through interviews, clinical observations, physical examinations, diagnostic tests, documentation reviews, and literature studies. The care was delivered continuously from 11–12 weeks of gestation through the final neonatal follow-up. Findings revealed that the pregnancy progressed physiologically, culminating in a spontaneous vaginal delivery without complications. Subsequent postnatal and neonatal assessments (at 6 hours and 7 days) remained within physiological limits. The intervention demonstrated strict adherence to established midwifery service standards, with no significant disparities observed between clinical practice and theoretical frameworks. The study concludes that the CoC model provided throughout the childbearing cycle was fully compliant with professional and service standards. It is recommended that this continuous care model be prioritized to further enhance the quality of maternal and infant health services
