Abstract
Background: Hospitalization in preschool children often causes anxiety, which can hinder the treatment process. Jenga play therapy is a nursing intervention that can be applied as a distraction technique to help reduce children's anxiety during hospitalization. Obejective: Analyzing the application of child nursing care through the application of Jenga play therapy to reduce anxiety levels due to hospitalization in preschool-aged children.. Methods : This paper uses a descriptive case study design in three preschool children hospitalized at Bhayangkara M. Hasan Hospital, Palembang. Anxiety levels were measured using the Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS) Preschool. The Jenga play therapy intervention was administered for 20 minutes, once daily for three consecutive days. Results: Anxiety scores decreased in all respondents: Anxiety Score F from 44 to 39, Anxiety Score M from 48 to 43, and Anxiety Score D from 49 to 40, with an average decrease of 6 points. Conclusion: Jenga play therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels in preschool children due to hospitalization and can be used as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention. Recomendation: Nurses are expected to implement Jenga play therapy as part of child nursing care as a distraction technique to overcome hospitalization anxiety.
