Abstract
Background: Hypertension is a consistent increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg. The diagnosis of hypertension is not based on a single increase in blood pressure. Blood pressure should be measured in both sitting and lying positions. There are two types of hypertension: essential (primary) and secondary hypertension. Purshed Lip Breathing can affect blood pressure and is one of the recommended interventions for people with hypertension. Objective: To determine the benefits of purshed lip breathing in lowering blood pressure in people with hypertension. Methods: This study was an experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. This study was conducted by administering the Purshed Lip Breathing intervention three times a week for 10 minutes. Results: Based on the implementation of EBP, the results obtained from three study respondents showed a decrease in Purshed Lip Breathing daily with varying degrees of improvement. This demonstrates that non-pharmacological therapy, Purshed Lip Breathing, can be used to lower blood pressure in people with hypertension. Suggestion: It is hoped that the results of this study will provide insight and application to hypertension sufferers regarding the management of their hypertension with Purshed Lip Breathing. Keywords: Purshed Lip Breathing, Hypertensi
