Abstract
Background : The preschool years (ages 3–5) constitute a critical period for school readiness, marked by significant improvements in fine motor skills that serve as the foundation for writing and daily activities. Fine motor impairments can lead to difficulties with writing, cutting, and buttoning clothes, as well as poor hand-eye coordination, ultimately affecting a child's independence, academic performance, and behavior. Stimulation through play therapy using modeling clay and early detection via Denver II screening are essential to prevent delays in fine motor development. Objective : Implementing Evidence Based Practice Nursing (EBPN) play therapy with plasticine aims to improve the fine motor development of preschool children who experience fine motor disorders. Methods : This study used a case study design with three preschool-aged children who experienced fine motor deficits based on the Denver II screening. The play therapy intervention was provided four times a week, lasting 60 minutes per session. Evaluation was conducted using the Denver II screening pretest and posttest after the fourth day of intervention. Result : After the intervention of modeling clay play therapy, all three respondents demonstrated an improvement in fine motor skills. Denver II screening results for the fine motor sector shifted from the "suspect" category to "normal." Modeling clay play therapy proved effective in enhancing the fine motor skills of preschool-aged children.. Suggestion :This plasticine play therapy intervention can be applied by nurses in stimulating child growth and development and can be taught to parents as independent stimulation at home.
