Abstract

Background: Stroke is a serious neurological disorder. It is an acute attack that can lead to death or physical or mental disability. Muscle weakness is one of the most common clinical signs experienced by stroke survivors. One way to prevent permanent disability in stroke survivors is to train muscle strength through acupressure therapy. Objective: To analyze nursing care based on EBPN in patients with neurological system disorders; stroke in the Fransiskus Charitas Hospital Palembang Pavilion Treatment Room. Methods: A case study of three stroke patients experiencing decreased upper extremity muscle strength. Respondents were given acupressure therapy for 7 days, with exercises performed twice daily for 10 minutes. Results: The results of respondent I pre muscle strength were on a scale of 3 and post therapy were on a scale of 4, respondent II pre was on a scale of 1 and post was on a scale of 1 and respondent III pre was on a scale of 3 and post was on a scale of 4. Conclusion: Acupressure therapy can increase upper extremity muscle strength in 2 respondents, and 1 respondent did not experience an increase in muscle strength. Suggestion: Nurses can apply acupressure therapy to improve upper extremity muscle strength in stroke patients. Families can perform acupressure therapy independently to help improve muscle strength in stroke patients. Keywords: Muscle weakness, Stroke, Acupressure therapy
