Abstract

Labor productivity is a crucial factor in ensuring the smoothness of processes and the quality of production in the rice processing industry. CV. Sukses Jaya Mandiri faces low productivity in the paddy unloading section, characterized by delays in unloading activities, trucks frequently queuing overnight, and a high proportion of non-productive working time. This condition negatively impacts the company as overtime costs increase by 50%, from Rp15/kg to Rp22.5/kg, and also leads to worker complaints due to extended working hours until late at night. This study aims to analyze labor productivity and design improvements in the work system and supporting tools to enhance the effectiveness of working time utilization. The methods used are Work Sampling to identify productive and non-productive activities, and Labor Utilization Rate (LUR) as an indicator of time utilization. Data were collected through direct observation over seven working days. The results show that the LUR value before improvement was 48.8%, indicating that working time utilization was not yet optimal due to inadequate tools, slow sorting processes, and an unstructured work system. The proposed solutions include improving work tools and implementing a task division system.
