Abstract
This study explores the potential of blended learning to enhance university students’ motivation in learning English. The topic is chosen based on the crucial role of motivation in language learning success and the increasing adoption of blended learning in higher education. The study aims to (1) explore students’ experiences with blended learning in the context of English language learning, (2) analyze how blended learning influences students’ motivation in learning English, and (3) identify the most effective components of blended learning in fostering student motivation. Using a descriptive qualitative design, the research involves English Language Education students who experience blended learning. Data are collected through open-ended questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Thematic analysis is employed to identify patterns related to students’ motivation, challenges, and perceptions of blended learning. The findings show that blended learning offers a flexible, engaging, and meaningful learning experience. It helps students develop independence, adaptability, and confidence in learning English. Furthermore, the integration of online and face-to-face learning enhances active participation and digital literacy. Overall, the study concludes that blended learning positively contributes to students’ motivation and supports the creation of more effective and interactive English language learning strategies.
