Abstract

Palembang Art and Cultural Centre is a district of preservation and devolution of Palembang’s art and culture. Palembang Art and Cultural Centre consists of cultural development centre, art gallery, library, dance and drama studio, music studio, weaving workshop, theater, and also traditional restaurant. All of these facilities located in three buildings. The aims of this infrastructure are to accommodate preservation of Palembang’s art and culture, be a means of educative tourism for local and foreign visitors, and also to introduce and conserve the existence of traditional art and culture. Futhermore, the existence of Palembang Art and Cultural Centre also can be an identity to unite heterogeneous nations. The theme of this art and cultural centre is “Harmony in Diversity” with a post modern neo-vernacular architecture.
