Abstract

Background: Feverish seizures (KD) often occur in infants or children aged 6 months to 5 years. Low knowledge can affect parents anxiety in dealing with KD. One of the efforts to increase knowledge about the management of KD prevention and reduce maternal anxiety is through education with video media. Objective: To analyze the difference in the level of knowledge and anxiety of parents pre and post education on the management of febrile seizures in children at the Clara Charitas Hospital Pavilion km.7 Palembang. This research method uses the one group pretest and posttest design method.The intervention used in video media education. Results: The results showed the age of the respondents with a median age of 32 years, some respondents had a high school education level of 18 respondents (47.4%), a history of seizures of 22 patients (57.9%), pre-knowledge with a sufficient level of 28 respondents (73.7%) and post knowledge of 36 respondents (94.7%), very severe pre-anxiety 37 respondents (97.4%), and post severe anxiety of 18 respondents (47.4%). The results of the study found a significant difference between pre and post conditions in both the variables of knowledge (p = value 0.001) and anxiety (p = value 0.001). Advice: It is hoped that mothers who have children who have seizures can apply seizure prevention independently at home.
