Abstract

Background: Auditory hallucinations are a symptom of mental illness in which the client experiences stimuli such as false sensations in the form of sounds that are not actually there or are not real. Hallucinations carry the risk of harming oneself, others, and the environment, without the client's awareness. To overcome auditory hallucinations, pharmacological (medication) and non-pharmacological management can be carried out, one of which is origami folding therapy. Origami folding therapy can be useful for training concentration, overcoming trauma, increasing self-awareness, improving sensorimotor skills and tolerance for frustration or mental health disorders. By taking medication regularly, hallucinations can be controlled, accompanied by origami folding therapy to influence imagination, memory intelligence, and can influence the pituitary gland in the brain to release endorphins, resulting in feelings of pleasure, comfort, and calm. Objective: To determine the application of origami paper folding therapy to reduce signs of auditory hallucination symptoms. Method: One group pretest and posttest application of origami paper folding therapy to reduce signs of auditory hallucination symptoms. Results: The application of EBP origami paper folding therapy was carried out for 3 days with a duration of 30 minutes with different origami creation forms each day, in respondent I, 10 signs of hallucination symptoms decreased to 4, respondent II from 9 signs of symptoms decreased to 3, respondent III from 11 signs of symptoms decreased to 3 and respondent IV from 9 signs of symptoms decreased to 2. Conclusion: After being given origami paper folding therapy, the four respondents experienced a decrease in signs of auditory hallucination symptoms. Suggestion: Respondents were able to control hallucinations by regularly taking medication and doing origami paper folding therapy. Keywords: Hallucinations, Origami, Signs of Symptoms
