Abstract
Background Excess uric acid levels in the body cause uric acid buildup in the joints and body tissues. Nutritional status, such as obesity, can trigger gout as a result of an unbalanced diet, which results in increased purine levels or creates a condition called hyperuricemia. High uric acid levels, if uncontrolled, can lead to gout arthritis and other diseases. Objective : This study aims to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and uric acid levels in residents in the community of Puskesmas Sukarami. Methods : Methods This study used a quantitative cross-sectional approach, with a sample size of 69 respondents. The sampling technique used quota sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate Kendall's Tau-b tests. Result : The largest age distribution was in Middle adulthood (3-60 years), namely 37 respondents (53.6%). Gender distribution was Female 49 respondents (71%). Distribution of respondents who had genetic gout was 8 respondents (11.6%). The distribution of BMI was mostly normal weight (18.5-24.9) namely 33 (47,8%), the most MUAC was normal (90-09%) as many as 45 (65.2%), the most obese abdominal circumference was 52 (75.4%). The Kendall's Tau-b statistical test showed a p-value = 0.326 for BMI, then p-value = 0.721 for MUAC, then p-value = 0.294 for abdominal circumference (ɑ > 0.05). In conclusion, there is no relationship between nutritional status based on (BMI, MUAC, and abdominal circumference) with uric acid levels. Suggestion : For residents who have a waist circumference that is classified as central obesity, it is recommended to lose weight to prevent other non-communicable diseases. Key Words : Nutritional Status, Uric Acid
