Abstract
Antibiotic susceptibility testing is used to determine antibiotics effective against bacteria. The Kirby-Bauer diffusion method on Mueller Hinton Agar is widely used. The medium is often prepared in bulk, leaving portions stored for later use. Before reuse, solidified medium is re-liquefied through reheating, usually by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Mueller Hinton Agar is known to have good heat resistance, but repeated sterilization may affect its nutrients. Escherichia coli is a common bacterium causing various infections; therefore, antibiotic susceptibility testing is important for its examination.
