Abstract
Background: Hallucinations are synonymous with schizophrenia because all patients with schizophrenia experience hallucinations. Hallucinations themselves are sensory misperceptions that affect the five senses. Auditory hallucinations are common, and if not properly managed, they can lead to decreased skills and independence, and even violent behavior that can injure oneself and others. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of beaded handicraft occupational therapy in reducing auditory hallucinations. Method: This EBP implementation is a case study using a pre-experimental method and a one-group pretest-posttest design. Results: There was a significant reduction in the level of auditory hallucinations in three patients, with the implementation of beadwork occupational therapy daily for four sessions. Three patients initially experiencing severe hallucinations became two patients with mild hallucinations and one patient with moderate hallucinations. Conclusion: The implementation of beadwork occupational therapy can reduce hallucinations in patients with auditory hallucinations. Suggestion: The results of this study can be considered for including this therapy in the treatment provided to patients, especially those experiencing auditory hallucinations at Ernaldi Bahar Hospital.
