Abstract
The standard time for blood to clot using a Vacutainer serum separator tube, according to Becton Dickinson, is 30 minutes. Preliminary tests on Vacutainer serum separator tubes revealed that blood only takes 15 minutes to clot completely. Therefore, researchers wanted to compare uric acid levels in blood that had been left for 15 and 30 minutes. To analyze the results of uric acid tests using blood that was allowed to stand for 15 minutes and 30 minutes before centrifugation. This study used a quantitative method with an observational analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. Subjects consisted of 38 university students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood samples were collected in vacutainer serum separator tubes, allowed to stand for 15 and 30 minutes, then centrifuged and uric acid levels were determined using a Biolabo Kenza 450 TX. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test at a 95% confidence level.The mean value for samples with blood allowed to stand for 15 minutes and 30 minutes was 8.42. The Wilcoxon test showed p=0.967 (p>0.05), indicating no difference in uric acid levels between the two standing times.
