Abstract

Background: Preschool children are in the age range of 3-6 years, children who are treated will experience conditions due to various nursing actions. This can make children feel anxious, restless, afraid, worried, trembling, increased muscle tension so that the recovery of children who are undergoing treatment in the hospital can be disrupted and the child becomes traumatized. Several actions are recommended to reduce the impact of anxiety due to hospitalization, namely with diversion techniques, one of which is plasticine play therapy. Purpose: To see the effectiveness of plasticine play therapy in preschool children with dengue fever on reducing anxiety levels due to hospitalization Method: This paper uses a descriptive case study with a nursing process approach with a case study design of 3 respondents, using an observation sheet with the FIS anxiety scale. The data collection process was carried out on respondents by playing plasticine for 2 days and 20 minutes at each meeting for each respondent. Results: The results of the paper obtained that plasticine play therapy is effective in reducing the intensity of anxiety due to hospitalization in preschool children, as evidenced by the An.T anxiety scale decreasing from scale 4 to scale 2, An.A scale 4 to scale 2 and An.M scale 3 to scale 1. So it can be concluded that plasticine play therapy is effective in reducing the anxiety scale of preschool children due to hospitalization. Suggestion: It is expected that respondents can carry out plasticine play distraction techniques as an alternative to non-pharmacological anxiety management.
