Abstract

This internship report discusses the planning and architectural design process of a 250 m² residential house located in The Spring Housing Complex, Kenten Laut, Palembang. The internship was carried out at Jasa Arsitek Palembang over 90 working days, aiming to bridge the gap between architectural theory and professional practice. The project focused on developing a modern residential design that met the client's needs and preferences, particularly the desire for an open space concept to create a spacious and airy impression. The design process included theoretical and practical identification, site analysis (sun orientation, wind direction, noise levels, vegetation), and the production of architectural working drawings such as floor plans, elevations, sections, utility layouts, and 3D perspectives. Each phase adhered to professional architectural standards, emphasizing sustainability, comfort, and aesthetics. The outcome demonstrated that a thorough analysis of the user, environment, and spatial requirements is essential to producing a functional design that reflects the client’s character and vision. This internship provided valuable real-world experience for the student to understand the dynamics of the architectural profession and the importance of integrating academic knowledge with practical application in the field.
