Abstract

Background: The still low rate of exclusive breastfeeding due to low milk production, the mother's emotional state related to the mother's oxytocin reflex can affect milk production by about 80% to 90%. Support from the husband, especially the husband, can influence the exclusive breastfeeding of the baby. Oxytocin massage is performed to stimulate the oxytocin reflex or letdown reflex and can be done with the help of the husband. Objective: To understand the application of oxytocin massage practices by postpartum mothers' husbands at Charitas Hospital Palembang. Method: Type of research is quantitative, with a cross-sectional research design. The observation tool used in this study is the oxytocin massage procedure sheet. The sample size was 30 people, and the sample used the Total Sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using an observation sheet after the postpartum mother's husband was given education on oxytocin massage. The univariate data analysis technique involves the distribution of frequency for each variable. Results: The research results obtained data on the characteristics of the respondents, the majority of whom were in the age range of 21-35 years, which is 73.3%. The education level of the husbands in this study is mostly at the higher education level, either D3 or equivalent to a bachelor's degree, which is 66.7%. The majority of the husbands' occupations are in the private sector, specifically 56.7%. The husband's behavior in providing Oxytocin Massage to postpartum mothers in the Maria Charitas Hospital Palembang falls into the good category (76-100%), which is 100%.
