Abstract

Background: The family has an important role in the continuity of the patient care process as companions, they can act as caregivers for the patient. Therefore, health education is needed to increase knowledge. Objective: To determine the difference in family knowledge about double lumen catheter care before and after education using video and leaflet media. Method: Quantitative research pre-experimental method, one group pretest- posttest approach. Using a total sampling technique with a total sample of 42 respondents. The location of this research is the Hemodialysis room at Charitas Hospital Palembang. Data collection tools use questionnaires and video media and leaflets. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. Results: Analysis of the age frequency distribution showed that there were 37 respondents in the adult age group and 5 in the elderly. Analysis of the gender distribution showed that there were 30 women and 12 men. Analysis of the distribution of education levels shows that there are 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 20 high schools and 16 universities. Analysis of the distribution of CDL installation time shows < 1 week - 24 weeks, 25 and 25 weeks - 48 weeks, 17. Analysis of the distribution of the level of knowledge before education shows that good knowledge 41, moderate 1 and none of the respondents' knowledge was lacking. Analysis of the level of knowledge after education shows Good knowledge 42. Bivariate analysis shows there is no difference before and after CDL care education using video and leaflet media Suggestion: Future researchers can develop research methods and provide interventions using demonstration techniques with visual aids.
