Abstract

Blood pressure can experience instability, one of which is due to surgery and the influence of anesthetic drugs. One of the nursing interventions is classical music therapy which can release endorphin hormones so that relaxation occurs which has an impact on blood pressure stability. To determine the difference in blood pressure before and after classical music therapy in post-major surgery patients in the central surgical installation. Quantitative research, with a quasi-experimental design, pre-post one group without control group method. Sample of 75 respondents and Acidental sampling technique. Classical music intervention was given for 15 minutes using Headphones with a sphygmomanometer measuring instrument and using standard operating procedures for music therapy and observation sheets. Univariate and bivariate data analysis techniques used the Wilcoxon test. The majority of respondents were female 58 people (77%), aged 19-59 years (adults) 61 people (81%), type of medical diagnosis 38 people (51%), blood pressure of post-major surgery patients before receiving classical music therapy was mostly in the Hypertension I category BP 140-159//90-99 mmHg 44 people (59%), and after classical music therapy the majority of respondents were in the Pre-hypertension category BP 120-/80-89 mmHg 32 people (43%) and there was a difference in blood pressure before and after classical music therapy with a p value of 0.001 (<0.05). This study found a difference between blood pressure before and after the administration of music therapy. This study recommends that hospitals conduct non-pharmacological music therapy training as an intervention to stabilize blood pressure.
