Abstract

Background: Nursing services are an important component in hospitals because they reflect the image and quality of services. However, various obstacles such as limited resources, understanding of diagnosis, and suboptimal implementation of interventions still affect the quality of nursing care. Objective: This study aims to explore the experience of nurses in implementing nursing care in adult inpatient rooms, with a phenomenological approach. Methods: This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and participant observations involving nurses with work experience at Charitas Hospital Palembang. The data analysis uses the Colaizzi method to identify the main themes. Research Results: The results of this study found 10 themes, namely 1) Nurses' knowledge about nursing care 2) Assessment process carried out by nurses in applying nursing care to patients 3) Time to conduct an assessment on patients 4) Process of formulating nursing diagnosis 5) Process of determining nursing interventions 6) Implementation based on interventions made 7) Documentation process carried out by nurses 8) Obstacles when conducting nursing care 9) Impact of obstacles when providing nursing care 10) Nurses' expectations in improving nursing care for patients
