Abstract

Background: Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world. Indonesia has the second highest number of pulmonary tuberculosis cases in the world. The level of knowledge, self-efficacy with family readiness is very important to prevent the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis. Objectives: To know the relationship between knowledge level and self-efficacy with family readiness in preventing pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. Method: Quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach, a sample of 30 respondents was taken with total sampling technique, analysed by kendall'tau test. The measuring instrument uses a questionnaire that meets the validity test: the level of knowledge, self-efficacy and family readiness r count> 0.361 and the reliability value ≥0.60. Results: The majority of early adulthood 15 respondents (50.0%), female gender 20 respondents (66.7%), high school education 15 respondents (50.6%), work 16 respondents (53.3%), duration of treatment 0-1 month 27 respondents (90.0%). The results of bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p=0.004, τ= 0.514) with readiness to prevent pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. There is a significant relationship between self-efficacy (p=0.012, τ= 0.457) with readiness to prevent transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis. Suggestion: Nurses increase patient family education about preventing pulmonary TB transmission so that families have high knowledge and self-efficacy.
