Abstract

Background: Sectio Cesarea (SC) is a method of removing the fetus by making an incision in the abdomen (laparotomy) and an incision in the uterus. Although SC is the choice of many women, it can still cause anxiety. Pre-SC anxiety is caused by doubts about success and fear of unexpected threats. The recovery period after delivery, both the physical and the psychological, can affect the quality of life. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between pre-SC anxiety and postpartum quality of life. Methods: This study is a correlation study with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 50 respondents taken randomly on all clients who planned SC. Data were collected using questionnaires. Data analysis using univariate percentage analysis and correlation test using Spearman Rank statistical test. Results: The characteristics of the respondents were mostly aged 31-35 years as much as 60%, the level of education of diploma three 68%, the number of children 2-3 people as much as 54%. The description of moderate anxiety levels in respondents aged 31-35 years as much as 29 (58%), Diploma three education totaling 33 (66%), respondents with 2-3 children as well as 26 (52%). The picture of quality of life in the postpartum period, with good criteria, namely respondents aged 31-35 years as many as 25 (50%), Diploma three education as many as 28 (56%) and respondents who have 2-3 children as many as 25 (50%). Based on the results of Spearman correlation test, there is no significant relationship between the level of pre-CS anxiety and the client's quality of life during the postpartum period, the P value is 0.563. Conclusion: The relationship between the level of anxiety before cesarean section and the quality of life of women in the postpartum period is that women who have a high level of anxiety have a majority of quality of life in the good category. The statistical test results showed no significant relationship.
