Abstract

Background: Cholesterol examination is an important parameter in monitoring lipid metabolism. The higher cholesterol level in the blood, the greater the risk of heart disease. The purpose of carrying out a cholesterol check is to help change a person’s healthy lifestyle patterns and lifestyle. Checking cholesterol levels in several laboratories generally uses a chemical analyzer. However, there are drawbacks, namely dependence on expensive reagents and equipment, so checking cholesterol levels has shifted to using POCT equipment and methods, which are cheaper and easier. The examination results obtained will show whether or not there are differences between the two tools. This is because there are advantages and disadvantages to each tool and method. Purpose: This research wants to know the differences in the results of checking cholesterol levels using POCT and Chemical Analyzer Method: This type of research is observational using a Cross Sectional approach and Total Sampling technique. Research subjects who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria had their blood taken and collected in blood taken and collected in blood tubes, then examined using a POCT and Chemical Analyzer. The data was analyzed using a Paired Sampel T-Test with confidence level of 95%. Results: Cholesterol examination using POCT had a mean value 136,63 mg/dl and Chemical Analyzer 160,95 mg/dl. The data was continued with hypothesis testing, namely the Paired Sample T-Test and obtained a probability result of 0,000 < 0,05, which means there is a difference. Conclusion: Based on the research results, there are differences in cholesterol examination using a POCT and a chemical analyzer with values (signed 2-tall) 0,000 < 0,05. Suggestion: For further research it is recommended to increase the number of research samples with different methods and principles in order to enrich them with broader and varied research that is useful and appropriate for use in the laboratory.
