Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a chronic medical condition caused by an abnormal increase in blood pressure that continues and exceeds normal limits with systolic pressure >140 mmHg and diastolic pressure >90 mmHg. Lemon aromatherapy and classical music therapy interventions are non-pharmacological treatments that can be done to lower blood pressure. Purpose: This study is to provide an overview of the implementation of nursing care with aromatherapy and music therapy interventions in lowering blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Methods: This study uses a study case method with a Once Group Pre-test Post-test design with the implementation of Evidence Based Practice where the research subjects were 4 respondents. The intervention was carried out once a day for 3 consecutive days with a duration of 15 minutes. Results: It is known that the combined intervention of lemon aromatherapy and classical music therapy carried out on hypertension sufferers experienced a decrease with a systolic decrease range of 20-52 mmHg and a diastolic decrease range of 13-24 mmHg, so it is concluded that the provision of aromatherapy and music therapy is effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers. Conclusion: There are many types of aromatherapy that can lower blood pressure, it is hoped that further researchers will compare the level of effectiveness of each type of aromatherapy and for hypertension sufferers to do it independently in controlling blood pressure.
