Abstract
This study aims to investigate whether there is a correlation between students’ self-confidence and their public speaking skill. This correlation study involved eighty eleventh graders of a private senior high school in Palembang as the samples to participate in this study. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire to measure students’ self-confidence and tests to assess students’ speaking skill. The data of this study were analysed by using Pearson Product Moment (SPSS) 2026. Since the value was -0.067, it is concluded that there was no correlation between self-confidence and public speaking skill of the eleventh graders of a private senior high school Palembang. It is expected that this research gives a positive impact to students through providing new insight and knowledge of the importance of public speaking and encourages the students to develop their self confidence in public speaking.
