Abstract
Vocational High Schools (SMK) aim to equip students with skills to work independently or as mid-level workers. Therefore, teachers need to equip vocational school students with soft skills, one of which is communication. Communication, as a crucial soft skill, plays a vital role in the career success of SMK students. Self-disclosure, or openness, is a key component of interpersonal communication, aiding students in adapting to work environments. This study aims to identify and analyze differences in self-disclosure levels between male and female SMK students based on their gender. Using a comparative quantitative approach and a self-disclosure scale adapted from the Reported Self-disclosure by Wheeles and Grotz (1976), the analysis results show a significant difference in self-disclosure between the two groups (Sig. value = 0.022, < 0.05). This indicates that there are differences in self-disclosure based on the gender of SMK students. Therefore, the hypothesis of this study, which states that there are significant differences in self-disclosure levels between male and female SMK students based on their gender is accepted.
