Abstract

Fatherless is a condition where there is no role and father figure in a child's life, the cause of the absence of a father can be due to divorce, death, and due to marital or health problems. The purpose of this study was to see the perception of marriage in women who experience Fatherless in the Women's Correctional Institution. This study is a qualitative study. The subjects in this study consisted of two people with the category of unmarried and aged 18-40 years who were still prisoners in Class IIA Correctional Institutions. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews and psychological test results. The analysis technique used is Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) analysis, the study emphasizes the process of describing experiences to the essence or essence of the experience. The results of this study indicate that women who experience fatherless conditions and have prisoner status have positive perceptions of marriage and have high hopes for marriage. There is a difference in expectations between subjects 1 and 2, subject 1 has no knowledge about marriage but has the hope that the partner can accept him and his family, while subject 2 has knowledge about marriage obtained from religious leaders and his younger sibling who is married, he is also aware of the limitations so that there are efforts to improve competence by continuing studies to get a partner according to the criteria.
