Abstract

The research aims to analyze the writing of capital letters and end-of-sentence punctuation of students at SD Xaverius 7 Palembang. The research population was students at SD Xaverius 7 Palembang and the research sample was a purposive sample, namely students in grades III and V. The research used descriptive qualitative methods. Researchers used data collection techniques, tests, interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses triangulation techniques between researchers. Based on the results of data analysis for class III students, class III students' understanding of writing capital letters averaged 91.2, while class III students' understanding of writing end-of-sentence punctuation marks averaged 88.8. For class V students, based on the results of data analysis, understanding of writing capital letters for class V section A students with an average of 91.04, while for understanding writing end-of-sentence punctuation marks for class V section A students with an average of 83.63. Based on the results of data analysis, class V students' understanding of writing capital letters in paragraphs averaged 63.36. Meanwhile, understanding of writing punctuation marks at the end of paragraph sentences for class V students with an average of 39.36. Based on the results of data analysis for students in grades III and V, it was concluded that there were still inaccuracies in the use of capital letters and punctuation for students in grades III and V.
