Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease characterized by high blood sugar levels caused by impaired insulin secretion in the body. The main chronic complications in diabetes mellitus sufferers are macrovascular, microvascular and neuropathy. One of the consequences of peripheral neuropathy is ulcers. To prevent trauma to the feet or ulcers, you can provide foot care. Objective: This study aims to identify the risk of ulcers in people with diabetes mellitus in Sukarami Village in the application of foot care. Method: This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach. There were 3 respondents who suffered from diabetes mellitus with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The characteristics of the respondents found that the majority of respondents were in the late adult age range. The results of the GDS check carried out on Mr. The R value was found to be 457 mg/dl, in Mrs. D obtained a result of 578 mg/dl and Mrs. M was found to be 142 mg/dl. All respondents have suffered from diabetes mellitus for > 10 years, Mr. R (11 years), Mrs. D (12 years) and Mrs. M (14 years old). The results of the implementation carried out for 4 consecutive days showed that there was success for the three respondents as evidenced by the difference in foot condition scores which experienced a low decrease, namely 2 and the highest decrease, namely 3. Suggestion: Sufferers can improve their foot care behavior independently to prevent the risk of ulcers.
