Abstract

Preschool is an important stage in a child's development, where attitudes, character and self-confidence begin to develop. Independence and self-regulation are crucial aspects that need to be developed early on, and the role of parents in parenting greatly influences this development. This study aims to identify differences in independence and self-regulation in early childhood in terms of parenting style. The research method used in this study is a quantitative approach with chi-square analysis method. Research data were collected through questionnaires measuring parenting styles, independence, and children's self-regulation. The results showed that there were differences in the independence and self-regulation of children raised with different parenting styles. Children raised with democratic parenting styles tend to have higher levels of independence and self-regulation compared to children raised with authoritarian or permissive parenting styles. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing supportive parenting styles in developing independence and self-regulation in early childhood.
