Abstract

A mother, as the primary caregiver for her child, especially one who is hearing impaired, requires greater effort compared to a child who can hear, resulting in challenges in dealing with deaf children. This research aims to analyze interpretative phenomenological knowledge about mothers' experiences with deaf children. This study uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach, collecting interview data. The subjects in this research were mothers who had deaf children aged 6-13 years, with subjects obtained as many as 3 participants. The data analysis technique used is interpretative phenomenological analysis, where the researcher aims to understand how participants interpret their own experiences as individuals who directly faced the incident. The research results show the mother's experience in the process of interacting with deaf children within their limitations. Furthermore, parental control, punishment, communication, and discipline are important aspects of the mother's parenting style when caring for a deaf child as someone who directly experiences these events.
