Abstract
Wayan Yuliana, S.Kep 2335005 Nursing Care for Bed Rest Patients on Preventing Decubitus Through the Message Effleurage Technique Using Virgin Coconut Oil KARYA TULIS ILMIAH NERS (KIAN) PROGRAM STUDI ILMU KEPERAWATAN DAN NERS FAKULTAS ILMU KESEHATAN UNIVERSITAS KATOLIK MUSI CHARITAS Background : Risk of decubitus due to weakness of limbs which causes pressure on the skin. Continuous and prolonged pressure will affect cell metabolism by reducing or inhibiting blood flow. The message technique that can be used to prevent pressure ulcers is effleurage. One massage that can be done is an effleurage massage. When doing an effleurage massage, you need a lubricant, namely VCO. Purpose : To find out the process of nursing care for patients on bed rest by administering VCO using the massage effleurage technique in the ICU room at Charitas Hospital Palembang. Methods : type of research, case study and quasi-experimental pretest-posttest Results : The findings after applying the massage effleurage technique using VCO to Mr. A has a skin condition with no erythema, no blanching, normal temperature, moist and no pressure sores, Mrs. S has a skin condition with no erythema, no blanching, normal temperature, moist skin and no pressure sores, and Mr. S has a skin condition with no erythema, no blanching, normal temperature, moist skin and no pressure sores. So with this application, it can be effectively used to prevent pressure ulcers. Conclusioin: The evaluation results based on the Branden scale score show a change in the score after applying the Massage Eflleurage Technique using VCO, which means that the author's application was effective in preventing pressure ulcers. Suggestion: The results of this report can be a reference in conducting further research to develop an assessment format to assess the risk of pressure ulcers and pay attention to other risk factors for pressure ulcers and can be applied by room nurses to prevent the occurrence of pressure ulcers.
