Abstract

Background: In leukocyte examination, one of the components that can affect the examination rate is the blood collection tube. To reduce the examination rate, you can use a cheaper blood collection tube, namely a siny vacutainer tube. Before using the siny tube for examination, a comparative test is carried out with a BD vacutainer tube, to determine the quality of the tube. Objective: To determine the number of leukocytes in the tubes of BD Vacutainer K3EDTA and Siny Vacutainer K3EDTA using a hematology analyzer. Method: The type of research used is observational analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The research subjects used were Medical Laboratory Technology students at levels II and IV totaling 37 students who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Venous blood was stored in BD Vacutainer K3EDTA and Siny Vacutainer K3EDTA tubes, then examined using the sysmex XN 1000 B3BF device. The statistical test uses the Paired T-test with a confidence level of 95%. Results: The average number of leukocytes in the tube of BD Vacutainer K3EDTA was 6.56×103/μL. Meanwhile, the average number of leukocytes in the tube of Siny Vacutainer K3EDTA was 6.48×103/μL Conclusion: There was no difference in the results of examining the number of leukocytes in the tubes of BD Vacutainer K3EDTA and Siny Vacutainer K3EDTA using a Hematology Analyzer with a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.058 > 0.05. Suggestion: Laboratories can use siny tubes as blood collection tubes, so that the price of the examination is cheaper.
