Abstract

Background: Preschool age children are children who have great growth and development. The sick condition experienced by the child requires the child to be treated at home so that the child experiences hospitalization which can cause the child to be anxious and worried, thereby disturbing comfort and causing stressors for the child. Therapy that can be given to reduce anxiety levels is by providing play therapy, one of which is coloring picture play therapy. Objective: To apply coloring picture play therapy in providing nursing care to children with anxiety who are undergoing hospitalization. Method: This case study was carried out on 3 respondents who were treated in the Theresia Charitas Hospital room, the intervention given was picture coloring therapy given for 3 consecutive days and each action lasted 18 minutes, anxiety levels were measured using the Face Images Scale (FIS). ) then carried out play therapy coloring pictures and then evaluating the level of anxiety using the FIS scale. Results: Of the 3 respondents who were implemented for 3 days, respondent I experienced a decrease in anxiety scale from 4 and decreased to scale 1, respondent II experienced a decrease in anxiety scale from 3 and decreased to scale 1 and respondent III experienced a decrease in anxiety scale from 4 and decreased to scale 1. Suggestion: It is hoped that nurses can apply coloring picture play therapy to reduce anxiety levels in children. Key words: Preschool children, coloring therapy, anxiety level
