Abstract

Background: Stroke is a sudden neurological disorder and can cause death and permanent disability if not treated properly. In 2022 WHO will have more than 12.2 million people who will experience a stroke and it is found that 70-80% of stroke sufferers will experience muscle weakness. Weakness is a clinical sign that is felt suddenly and abruptly. To prevent permanent disability in stroke sufferers, exercises can be done to increase upper extremity muscle strength. One therapy that can be done to increase upper extremity muscle strength in stroke sufferers with weakness is rubber ball grip therapy. Objective: To implement nursing care for clients with disorders of the neurological system: Stroke in the work area of the Sukarami Community Health Center. Method: Case study of 3 respondents with stroke and complaints of muscle weakness in the upper extremities who were then given rubber ball grip therapy for 7 days twice a day for 15 minutes each day. Results: After the intervention was carried out for 7 days, the results showed that respondent I's pre-muscle strength was from 3 to 5, for respondent II, pre-muscle strength was from 3 to 4, while one respondent did not experience an increase in muscle strength, namely pre to 2 and post to 2. Conclusion: Of the 3 case study respondents, 2 respondents experienced an increase in muscle strength from pre-level 3 and post muscle strength to 5 and 1 respondent did not experience an increase in muscle strength.
