Abstract
The lack of mental health facilities in Indonesia, especially in the city of Palembang, is a primary concern contributing to the insufficient care for individuals suffering from mental disorders. Additionally, the negative stigma attached to psychiatric hospitals, often perceived as "prisons" by the general public, further compounds the challenges faced in mental health. To address these two issues, there will be planning and design efforts for a psychiatric hospital in the city of Palembang, employing a healing environment approach. The concept of the healing environment willpplay apcrucial rolepin creatingoa physical environment that supports the healing process. In its implementation, this healing environment concept will be complemented by the incorporation of environmental psychology themes and therapeutic spaces. The planning and design of the psychiatric hospital in Palembang using the healing environment approach aim to meet the needs for mental health care facilities. Moreover, it seeks to counteract the social stigma associated with psychiatric hospitals, fostering a more positive perception within the community.
