Abstract
The river is a public property that can be used not only as a means of transportation but also as a natural wealth that can be enjoyed visually. Currently, the Musi River is used for water transportation and in addition, the Musi River is also used by the Palembang city government as a water tourism destination. Rivers as a heritage of natural wealth, actually rivers do not have to be the only means that can help the activities of residents around the waterfront city. However, with the existence of alternative transportation facilities that are focused on land areas, the existence of this river should not be abandoned and considering the enormous potential of the river, the river must still be considered. Seeing the existing condition of the city of Palembang now more concentrated on the land, the river which was previously a means of transportation has become left behind. The river is only passed if the population moves from ilir to ulu or vice versa. However, these activities are carried out using land routes, namely by bridges and now access to bridges in the city of Palembang is increasing. So that the concentration of city activities no longer takes place on the river. Based on this phenomenon, it is necessary to conduct research on accessibility and public open spaces to support the development of the potential of the Musi River in Palembang City so that it is in accordance with waterfront standards and rules.
