Abstract

Background: The patient's knowledge regarding the use of insulin is a tool that can help sufferers manage diabetes throughout their life. The better the patient understands how to use insulin correctly, the more the number of complications will be minimized. The increase in DM sufferers every year is caused by many factors, one of which is an unhealthy lifestyle, family history, inappropriate knowledge of treatment, so it is necessary to evaluate the level of knowledge regarding the use of insulin. Objective: The aim of the research was to determine the level of knowledge of insulin use in Diabetes Mellitus patients in the outpatient ward at Siloam Silampari Hospital Lubuklinggau in 2024. Methods: This research uses a descriptive research method with a total sampling technique where the sample is 51 respondents. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire with 14 questions. Result: The results of research on respondents' knowledge regarding knowledge of insulin use showed that 46 respondents (90.2%) had a good knowledge category, and 5 people (9.8%) had a sufficient level of knowledge. Conclusion: It was concluded that in this study the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge about insulin use. Suggestion: It is hoped that respondents can continue to increase their knowledge and carry out insulin treatment correctly in order to achieve maximum treatment results and prevent complications from diabetes mellitus.
