Abstract

Data from BPS South Sumatra Province shows a significant increase in the number of sufferers of coronary heart disease, from 5,035 sufferers in 2019 to 18,490 in 2021. Incidence of Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) The 2020 OHCA report notes that OHCA most often occurs at home (73.9%), in public places (15.1%), and in nursing homes (10.9%). Once the heart stops beating, BHD measures must be taken immediately to keep a person alive. Health cadres are individuals who are close to the community and can be the second person after family members to discover or encounter victims who have experienced a heart attack or respiratory arrest. BHD training for cadres is very important to increase preparedness in handling emergencies. Objective: To analyze and determine the frequency distribution of knowledge levels and skill levels of cadres before and after health education. Methods: Quantitative research design with a pre-experimental one group pretest and post-test design approach. Using a non-probability sampling technique, a purposive sampling technique and a sample size of 30 responses was determined. Result: There was a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of health cadres before and after the basic life support health service was implemented. Conclusion: All respondents experienced an increase in their knowledge and skills after the basic life support health program was carried out. Suggestio: Basic life support health education is important to provide to ordinary people, especially health cadres who are an extension of health workers in the community so that cadres are ready and able to provide assistance if they find people experiencing respiratory or cardiac arrest.
