Abstract
Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a disease that attacks the lungs in the long term. The air flow in the lungs is blocked, causing difficulty in breathing and fatigue. Implementation reduces symptoms by means of the Pursed Lip Breathing technique which is a breathing exercise technique. Objective: to analyze differences in the degree of dyspnea and fatigue before and after pursed lip breathing in COPD patients. Methods: Pre Experimental Design with one group pretest– posttest approach. Sampling techniques using purposive sampling. The sample was taken from 39 people. The data analysis in this study consists of univariate and bivariate analysis with a wilcoxon test. Results: The results of the study showed of 39 respondents suffering from mild Dyspnea there are 2 (5.1%) respondents and the degree is moderate there are 37 (94.9%) respondents, after giving intervention pursed lip breathing one degree there are as many as 16 (41%) respondences and slightly moderate degree 23 (59%) Respondents there is a relationship before and after giving pursued breath liping in patients with PPOK with a significant p-value: 0,000. Then PPOK patients who have experienced fatigue before intervention there are 39 respondents, After giving the intervention Pursed Lip breathing tiredness as much as 24 (61,5%) respondent and a decrease in fatigue 15 (38,5%) responders, this suggests there was a relationship prior to and after administration of Pursued respiring liping to patients with POCOK with significant value p: -3,873. Conclusion: There is a difference in the degree of dyspnea before and after the administration of pursed lips breathing in patients COPD and there is a different degree of fatigue before and post-pursed lip breathing for patients with PCD Suggestion: These breathing exercises will be more effective when you exercise 5-10 times a day.
