Abstract

Background: Preschool children are aged 3-6 years, children who are treated will undergo a traumatic therapy program, such as installing an IV drip. Several actions are recommended to reduce the impact of the pain of infusion, namely relaxation techniques, one of which is blowing a propeller. Objective: To see the difference in pain intensity in the intervention group given propeller blowing therapy and the control group Method: This research is a quantitative research with a pre-experimental design and intact group comparison type. consisting of pre-school age patients undergoing infusion installation. The total number of respondents in this study was 38, with 19 in the control group and 19 in the intervention group. Results were analyzed using the Mann Whitney U-test. Results: The results of the study showed that the frequency distribution was based on minimum age 3 years and maximum 6 years, based on gender, namely 22 men (57.9%) and 16 women (42.1%), based on experience of infusion installation, namely 33 people (86.8%), the control group had the highest score of very sick, 15 people (78.9%), while the intervention group had a sicker score of 11 people (57.9%), and the results of the Mann Whitney U-test showed p value 0.006 which means there is a difference in pain between the control group and the intervention group. Conclusion: there was a significant difference between the control group and the intervention group after being given propeller blowing therapy on the intensity of pain from infusion installation. Suggestion: It is hoped that respondents will be able to use the relaxation technique of blowing a propeller as an alternative non-pharmacological pain management
